OER Fit · Readings

Find readings you can assign.

Browse openly licensed collections, free-to-read sources, public-domain literature, journalism, poetry, and primary sources. Start with your course, then narrow only if you need to.

These are supplements, not main course texts. Use them to build reading sets or find individual texts and primary sources. OER Fit does not review these resources as main course texts.

Reuse rights

What do these reuse-rights labels mean?

Free to read is not the same as openly licensed. Check the individual source’s terms before copying or adapting it.

Open licenseReuse and adapt according to the listed license.
No DerivativesSharing unchanged may be allowed, but remixing or adapting is not.
Free to readLink students to the source; copyright remains with the rights holder unless otherwise stated.
Rights varyCheck the individual reading, item, or page before reuse.

About external reviews: Review links appear only when reviews are available for that resource on Open Textbook Library (OTL) or MERLOT. Karen checks for new reviews every few months. A missing review link does not imply lower quality.

OER Fit is intentionally selective. For a broader statewide list, the ASCCC OERI English collection includes additional OER and ancillary resources.
